A Lawrenceville woman involved in a deadly hit-and-run at a gas station Monday night is cooperating with investigators and “brought forth information that required further investigation,” authorities said Wednesday.
Anita Mustafi, 27, met with the lead investigator accompanied by her attorney, and a decision about criminal charges will be made after the investigation is complete, Gwinnett County police said in a news release.
She was expected to face a felony hit-and-run charge in connection with an incident at a BP on Pleasant Hill Road that killed Melissa Wheeler, 50, of Decatur, police said.
Wheeler was taken to a local hospital around 11 p.m. that night, but died shortly after, police said.
Mustafi was recognized by a Lawrenceville police officer after investigators released surveillance images from the gas station, AJC.com previously reported.

Police previously said Wheeler and Mustafi were involved in an altercation with an unidentified woman in the parking lot. Mustafi allegedly tried to drive away but was blocked in and confronted by the two women.
Wheeler and the other woman allegedly pulled the door open to Mustafi’s Kia Sportage. The car then went into reverse, knocking Wheeler over and running her over, police said.
Mustafi then drove away, and police haven’t said what the women were arguing about. A man seen talking to Mustafi just before the incident also left before investigators arrived.
